CircularTech Metals is developing a hydrometallurgical battery recycling facility in Dandenong South, Victoria. The plant will process end-of-life EV batteries and manufacturing scrap to recover lithium, cobalt, nickel, and manganese at >95% purity. With Australia's EV fleet projected to reach 3.8 million by 2035, the domestic battery waste stream is set to grow exponentially. Revenue is generated from processing fees charged to battery collectors and the sale of recovered critical minerals. The facility is designed to process 20,000 tonnes of battery waste annually.
Diverts 20,000 tonnes of hazardous battery waste from landfill annually; reduces need for primary mineral extraction.
Strengthens national supply chain resilience for critical minerals; supports clean energy transition infrastructure.
Creates specialised manufacturing and chemistry jobs in Dandenong South; builds workforce capability in circular economy.
Proprietary hydrometallurgical process achieving >95% mineral recovery; R&D advancing next-generation recycling technology.
First-mover advantage in growing Australian market; processing fees plus recovered mineral sales; government R&D incentives.
